Because life isn't always black and white
Life is rarely a straightforward path of black and white. We all navigate the world through our own unique lens, shaped by experiences, emotions, and perspectives that color our understanding. Therefore, when considering your mental well-being, it's essential to find a therapist who understands your individual journey and can help you navigate the complexities of life. Gray Matters Counseling, led by Licensed Clinical Social Worker Greg Cowan, is dedicated to providing compassionate and personalized therapeutic support to individuals, families, and groups in Carbon and Emery counties.
A Foundation Built on Experience
Greg Cowan's path to becoming a therapist was a tapestry woven with diverse experiences. While initially pursuing a degree in business finance, his underlying desire to help others eventually led him to a fulfilling career in the social services sector. A personal background enriched by adoption fostered a deep empathy for individuals facing adversity. His journey started with mentoring youth, which ultimately blossomed into a role at the Castle Country Youth Center, igniting a passion for working with vulnerable populations. This early exposure to the challenges faced by children and families propelled him to further his education.
Driven by his calling, Greg returned to the University of Utah, where he earned a Master's Degree of Social Work with a clinical emphasis. His dedication to his profession and commitment to providing high-quality care resulted in him achieving his Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) designation in 2007. Over his years of practice, Greg has honed his skills working with a wide array of clients at esteemed institutions like Intermountain Specialized Abuse Treatment Center (ISAT), Utah Youth Village, the Division of Child & Family Services, and other organizations.
