Compassionate psychiatric care for ages 13 and up
Hi, I'm Dr. Annemarie Carroll, a licensed clinical psychologist and yoga teacher. I'm delighted that you've taken the first brave step on your journey of growth and healing by visiting my website. As a practitioner, my greatest joy comes from integrating the time-honored wisdom of yoga and psychotherapy, offering a holistic, compassionate, and empowering approach to healing.
About Dr. Annemarie Carroll
My personal experiences with meditation and yoga ignited my curiosity about the untapped healing potential of these disciplines. I became particularly fascinated by yoga's capacity to address the whole person - the mind, the body, and the spirit. In my therapeutic work, I draw upon the synergy of psychotherapy and yoga, offering clients a safe and nurturing space to explore their thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations. This integrated approach fosters self-awareness, self-compassion, and resilience, allowing you to tap into your inner wisdom to overcome past and present challenges.
My academic background includes a Ph. D. in Clinical Psychology, allowing me to employ evidence-based therapeutic techniques tailored to your unique needs. Complementing this, I am a certified yoga teacher, having completed both a 200-hour and a 500-hour therapeutic yoga training. My ongoing commitment to learning and professional development includes extensive training on the integration of yoga and psychotherapy, as well as cutting-edge EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) training for trauma healing.
Yoga-Informed Therapy
Yoga-informed therapy offers a unique perspective that encourages a mindful exploration of the body and breath as a gateway to understanding and healing our emotional landscape. By incorporating yoga practices into traditional psychotherapy, I empower you to develop a deeper connection with yourself and explore the intimate relationship between the body, mind, and emotions.
In yoga-informed therapy sessions, you may engage in a variety of practices, including gentle stretches, deep breathing exercises, mindfulness practices, and guided meditation. These practices support you in addressing stress, anxiety, depression, and trauma, releasing tension and fostering inner peace.
EMDR Therapy
EMDR therapy is a powerful, scientifically validated treatment for healing from trauma. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) involves using bilateral stimulation, like eye movements or tapping, to activate the brain's natural healing process. By revisiting traumatic memories in a safe and controlled environment while incorporating bilateral stimulation, you can process and integrate traumatic experiences, reduce their emotional intensity and disruptive effects on your daily life.
Vicarious Trauma Services
Working in helping professions and other high-stress roles often comes with the risk of experiencing vicarious trauma. Vicarious trauma can impact your emotional, mental, and even physical well-being. In my vicarious trauma services, I offer a safe and compassionate space to process secondary traumatic stress, restoring balance, resilience, and a sense of well-being.
Workshops and Trainings
In addition to my one-on-one therapeutic work, I offer workshops and trainings dedicated to the integration of yoga and psychotherapy for healing and growth. I am passionate about sharing my knowledge with fellow mental health and yoga professionals, as well as with the wider community. Through these workshops, I aim to inspire and empower participants to incorporate these valuable techniques into their personal and professional lives.
I extend a warm welcome to you, and I'm excited to explore the possibility of working together on your journey of growth and healing. "Align With Your Inner Wisdom Through the Integration of Yoga & Psychotherapy."
