Unlock Your Potential, Discover All That Life Holds For You
I am a licensed psychologist and a native of Cypress, Texas, with over 17 years of experience dedicated to the field of mental health. My journey began at Baylor University, where I pursued my undergraduate studies in Psychology, igniting a passion for understanding the complexities of the human mind. This passion led me to the State University of New York at Binghamton, where I earned my doctoral degree (Ph. D.) in 2007. During my graduate studies, I developed a particular interest in personality and personality disorders, a focus that continued to shape my work throughout my doctoral internship at the Syracuse Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
My commitment to expanding my knowledge and experience brought me to a postdoctoral fellowship at the esteemed Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University. This opportunity further honed my clinical skills and provided invaluable insights into the intricacies of psychotherapy. Upon relocating to New York City, I joined an outpatient clinic within the renowned Mt. Sinai Health System, serving patients from diverse backgrounds and walks of life.
In 2013, I returned to my roots in the Houston area, joining the team at the University of Houston Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). During my time at CAPS, I worked as a staff psychologist and clinical supervisor, guiding and mentoring graduate students in the field of psychology. I also played an integral role in providing comprehensive mental health services to the university community. Presently, I serve as an outpatient psychologist at the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center and hold an appointment as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine. This dual role allows me to continue my dedication to both clinical practice and academic pursuits.
My Approach to Therapy
As a therapist, I firmly believe in the power of a collaborative relationship. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and truly non-judgmental space where you feel respected, validated, and empowered to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. My training and extensive experience have taught me that each individual is unique, shaped by their own distinct life experiences, challenges, and triumphs.
Rather than adhering to a rigid "one-size-fits-all" approach, I tailor my therapeutic interventions to meet your individual needs and goals. I work with you to uncover the underlying patterns and beliefs that may be contributing to your difficulties and help you develop healthier coping mechanisms and strategies for growth. My approach emphasizes understanding your personal story, gaining self-awareness, and fostering a deeper connection with yourself.
