Welcome to Welden Psychological Services Inc., a mental health practice dedicated to providing compassionate and evidence-based care to individuals, couples, and families. Our mission is to help our clients navigate the challenges of life and improve their overall quality of life through customized intervention plans. We understand that everyone's journey is unique, which is why we prioritize creating a safe and non-judgmental space where our clients can feel heard, understood, and empowered.

At the heart of our practice is Dr. Kristen Wheldon, a licensed psychologist with extensive experience working with various populations, including those in county jails, state prisons, court systems, foster children, and fire and emergency medical providers. Dr. Wheldon started her mental health career working with children diagnosed with developmental disabilities and later served as a school counselor in a private organization and a catholic school. She then transitioned into forensic psychology, working within the Orange County jail system and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Dr. Wheldon's expertise lies in working with trauma-exposed populations, such as veterans, first responders, and those involved in corrections. Many of her clients seek her help for issues related to anxiety, depression, trauma, or performance enhancement. She specializes in conducting POST-compliant pre-employment evaluations, personality and educational assessments, and providing crisis response. Dr. Wheldon's passion for education has led her to teach at various universities and colleges, as well as serve as a university lecturer for Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and an instructor for Saddleback and Irvine Valley Colleges.

Psychological Services

At Welden Psychological Services Inc., we offer a range of psychological services designed to meet the unique needs of our clients. Our services include individual sessions, adult psychological assessments, juvenile fire setter services, and peak performance services.

During individual sessions, we work with our clients to address their specific concerns, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, or relationship issues. We use evidence-based psychological interventions to help our clients break through unhealthy patterns and develop new perspectives and confidence for the future.

Our adult psychological assessments are tailored to meet the needs of our clients, including providing accommodation assessments for standardized tests such as the SAT, ACT, and GMAT. We also conduct pre-employment evaluations that are compliant with the Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST).

Our juvenile fire setter services are designed to help children and adolescents who have engaged in fire-setting behavior. Our approach is holistic, focusing on the underlying causes of the behavior and providing intervention plans that address the individual's needs.

At Welden Psychological Services Inc., we understand the unique challenges that first responders face, which is why we offer consultation services specifically tailored to their needs. Additionally, we offer corporate training and peak performance services for individuals looking to enhance their performance in their personal and professional lives.
