At Nathan Michael Psychotherapy, we understand that being a human can be challenging. As a licensed psychotherapist with over 10 years of experience, I, Nathan Michael, am here to offer supportive and compassionate guidance to help you navigate these challenges and cultivate a more fulfilling life.

Our Approach to Psychotherapy

My approach to psychotherapy is eclectic, drawing from a range of therapeutic modalities, including Relational Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Somatic Psychotherapy, and Gestalt Psychology. I believe in creating a safe, non-judgmental, and empathetic space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. My goal is to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, your emotions, and your relationships, empowering you to make positive changes in your life.

Our Services

At Nathan Michael Psychotherapy, we offer a range of services to support your mental health and well-being. These include:

  • Adult and Adolescent Therapy: We provide individual therapy sessions for adults and adolescents, addressing issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship challenges.
  • Relationship Dynamics: We help individuals and couples navigate relationship conflicts, improve communication, and deepen their emotional connection.
  • Sexuality and Gender Identity: We offer support and guidance for individuals exploring their sexuality and gender identity, promoting self-acceptance and self-expression.

Fees and Insurance Reimbursement

My fee is $190 per 50-minute session. I offer some flexibility in fees for individuals with 2 or more sessions per week. Additionally, I provide a monthly invoice for insurance reimbursement.

Location and Parking

Our office is conveniently located at 3120 Telegraph Avenue, Suite 12, Berkeley, CA 94703. Nearby parking options include 2-hour and metered parking on neighboring streets. Public transportation options include the Telegraph Avenue 6 and Shattuck Avenue 18 buses, as well as the Ashby BART station, a 5-block walk away.

About Me

As a licensed psychotherapist, I bring over 10 years of experience in providing psychotherapy to adults and adolescents. My education and training include a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies and an advanced 3-year training program in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked as a marketing professional in Shanghai, China, and as a touring musician and artist tour manager.

Consultation and Supervision

I offer supervision to unlicensed associates and trainees, as well as professional consultation to other licensed clinicians.
