Addressing the root of the problem, one patient at a time.
At Dr. Christopher Burritt's practice, we understand the importance of providing personalized holistic care to individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Our mission is to get to the root of the problem, ensuring that symptoms don't return once therapy ends or a medication is stopped. We strive to make each patient feel like a person, not just a number in the system or a chart on the shelf.
Dr. Burritt is a native of Chester County, and he aims to serve the community that helped shape who he is today. He is dedicated to helping patients feel comfortable and finding a treatment that meets their unique needs. When you call our office, you will speak directly with Dr. Burritt, and you can rest assured knowing that your care is his number one priority.
Meet the Doctor
Christopher Burritt, D.O., is a Board Certified Psychiatrist with experience working with individuals from various backgrounds and ages. His training has enabled him to see a wide range of patient situations at hospitals including Einstein, Jefferson, and Nemours DuPont. Dr. Burritt enjoys working with individuals, couples, and families, addressing specific symptoms such as depression or anxiety, as well as other challenges like managing work stress, improving communication in relationships, and identifying what blocks individuals from getting more out of life.
Dr. Burritt is an osteopathic trained psychiatrist who treats patients with therapy and may prescribe medication if needed. He believes in viewing each patient holistically and aims to use medications more selectively when he knows an individual more deeply. With couples, he often looks at the barriers to hearing the other person more clearly. With families, he teaches parenting skills tailored to the situation and addresses the different viewpoints of the parents.
Evaluation and Treatment
Dr. Burritt's unique approach involves looking with a patient at his or her way of handling feelings. Rather than focusing on eliminating symptoms, he aims to address each patient's characteristic reaction to stress. The goal isn't to just talk about thoughts and feelings but to be able to address the barriers that keep one from feeling content and expressing oneself in a productive and satisfying way.
An adult's individual initial evaluation consists of two separate one-hour appointments. At the conclusion of the second appointment, we discuss Dr. Burritt's observations and recommendations and decide if treatment is appropriate. A child or adolescent's initial evaluation consists of three separate appointments and begins with a one-hour appointment with the parents. This is followed by a one-hour appointment with the child, one on one or with a parent depending on the circumstances. The third appointment is for Dr. Burritt to ensure he has gathered all the pertinent information and to provide his observations and recommendations about how to proceed.
