Empowering individuals to heal and thrive in the face of trauma
At Boston Trauma Therapy, LLC, our mission is to provide a safe and supportive environment for individuals to heal from the trauma they have experienced. As a Licensed Psychologist, I, Andrea Knestel, Ph. D., have dedicated my career to working with individuals who have been impacted by trauma, including sexual abuse, domestic violence, and PTSD. With extensive experience working in various settings, including community mental health, college mental health, primary care, and rape crisis, I have developed a deep understanding of the complexities of trauma and its effects on individuals.
Services
As a trauma-informed therapist, I utilize a variety of evidence-based approaches, including Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I take a holistic approach to healing, recognizing the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and spirit. My goal is to empower clients to develop resilience, manage stress, and cultivate a sense of calm and well-being.
My area of specialization is working with older adolescents and adults who have experienced trauma. I provide individual psychotherapy sessions to help clients process their experiences, develop coping strategies, and enhance their overall mental well-being. Through our collaborative efforts, we will work together to help you:
- Develop a deeper understanding of your trauma and its effects on your life
- Learn coping skills and strategies to manage stress and anxiety
- Develop a stronger sense of self and confidence
- Cultivate a more positive outlook on life
Practice Information
Prior to our first session, we will schedule a brief phone consultation to discuss your presenting concerns, to determine if my practice is a good fit for you, and to answer any questions you may have. During our first session, we will discuss any questions that may have arisen while completing the required intake paperwork, followed by the intake interview.
As a solo practitioner, I am not well-suited to treat individuals who are acutely suicidal, require frequent out-of-session contact, or require extensive after-hours care. If you require these services, please seek out a different provider.
Billing and Payment
I am contracted with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts and accept their HMO, PPO, and Indemnity plans. I also accept BCBS PPO plans from other states. For self-paying patients, my rate for a first-time appointment is $250. My rate for a 60-minute therapy session is $200.
Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to attend your appointment, please notify me at least 48 business hours in advance to avoid being charged for your session. My late cancellation and no-show fee is $100.
Good Faith Estimate
For uninsured or self-pay individuals, a Good Faith Estimate is provided before services are rendered. This estimate shows the costs of items and services that are reasonably expected for your healthcare needs. If billed at least $400 more than this Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill.
