Types of Therapy

At Orchid Psychotherapy, we offer a variety of therapeutic approaches tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a structured and goal-oriented therapy that focuses on the interconnectedness of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. CBT helps individuals identify and challenge negative or unhelpful thought patterns that contribute to emotional distress and problematic behaviors. Through cognitive restructuring and behavioral experiments, clients learn to develop more adaptive coping skills and make positive changes in their lives. CBT has been proven effective in treating a wide range of mental health conditions, including anxiety disorders, depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

DBT is a comprehensive therapy originally designed to treat borderline personality disorder. It has since been adapted to address a variety of mental health challenges, such as emotional dysregulation, self-harm, and suicidal thoughts. DBT incorporates elements of mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness skills. It emphasizes the importance of accepting emotions without judgment while also learning to manage them effectively.

DBT is known for its focus on building distress tolerance and emotional regulation, empowering individuals to navigate challenging emotions and build healthier relationships.
